Gardens connect us in profound ways. This 2024 Royal Adelaide Show show garden was embraced by visitors and sparked conversations and inspired people to try their own home garden projects. People seemed to particularly resonate with the themes it tried to demonstrate, like Gardens connecting us to Nature and Cooler, Greener, Wilder Backyards, to the space being a dreamy backyard, and the plants used in the display.
I did try to keep this garden very relatable, but I couldn’t help myself and still had to have fun. The Chicken Carnivale was pure whimsy and fun, and it worked as planned, bringing delight to young and old. If you didn’t see it live you can see it in the images below.
Huge thanks go to my amazing team of volunteers, there is no way I could do what I do without their help. There are a few pics of the volunteers on some days we were building the garden, but many were not captured. Sincere thanks to the members of the Nursery and Garden Industry who supported my garden including Heynes Wholesale Nursery, Jeffries, The Turf Farm. And thankyou to Adrian Burgess who supplied the beautiful Orpington bantams, Wendy Britton who created the delightful sculpture pieces and Darren Clements for the beautiful photography.
