The timing of this workshops is designed so that you can start setting up your new vegie patch and be ready to plant warm season crops in spring. This beginner’s workshop is for everyone who wants to develop their own productive vegie patch or yummy yard and needs a combination of information and inspiration to get them started. I will cover the basics including the whys and wheres of setting up your vegie garden and then go into the essential details such as soil, compost, irrigation, seasonal planting, seeds vs seedlings and much, much more. I will also cover how to bring in the good bugs to help manage the bad and deal with problems within the garden.

I will take you on a tour of my different productive gardens which include both extensive in-ground gardens, as well as wicking beds. The day includes yummy morning tea and lunch made with my seasonal produce.

So, if you are dreaming of eating your own, home grown, organic, delicious, vine ripened tomatoes next summer, as well as every other wonderful vegie, this is a great workshop to attend.

This is a practical event. Please be sure to wear appropriate clothing. Boots in all seasons; hats and water bottles for summer, and warm, wet weather gear including a rain jacket for wet weather.

In the event of extreme weather, including temperatures over 35c at Mount Barker, the workshop may be cancelled or postponed to another day.
